Les 1G section Euro DNL musique ont été accueillis au lycée T.Campanella pour leur mobilité Erasmus. Le courant est vite passé entre les Italiens et les Français et nous nous sommes sentis "adoptés" dès le premier jour dans ce lycée perché sur un piton rocheux avec vue sur la Grande Bleue.
Les élèves avaient travaillé des chants qu'ils ont répétés et enregistrés sur place pour une première expérience de studio professionnel. Effet Wow !
L'équipe "International Team" du lycée composée de professeurs et d'élèves enthousiastes nous ont chaleureusement accueillis, ont organisé, animé et ont participé avec nous à des ateliers linguistiques, culturels et créatifs que nous avions élaborés ensemble en amont afin que les élèves communiquent le plus possible en anglais.
De leur côté, les élèves français ont préparé des présentations numériques qu'ils ont commentées en anglais pour partager leur quotidien de lycéens du lycée André Maurois, ont déconstruit quelques stéréotypes sur la Normandie et ont recommandé quelques-uns de leurs coups de cœur culturels et gastronomiques à un public conquis.

Section Euro à Zagreb Jour 5

Dernier jour à Zagreb pour notre petit groupe enthousiaste. Nous avons profité d'une visite guidée en anglais du Musée du chocolat pour en déguster différents échantillons. Au cours d'un Selfie challenge les élèves ont pu revoir sous le soleil cette fois les principaux points d'intérêt de la capitale. Après un dernier tour de tram pour rejoindre l'aéroport, le groupe, visiblement ravi de son expérience a profité du vol pour se remémorer cette semaine riche en découvertes.

Section Euro à Zagreb Jour 4

Les élèves se sont à nouveau mis au vert aujourd'hui avec une petite mise en jambe matinale vers la gare de Zagreb.
Le train nous a déposé à Zvečaj où nous attendait l'équipe de Terra Croatica pour une découvrir la nature lors d'une activité rafting/canoe, très appréciée.
Retour à Zagreb pour notre soirée internationale.
Au programme de cette dernière soirée : spécialités lettones, échanges de biscuits et confiseries et initiation aux danses traditionnelles.

Section Euro à Zagreb Jour 3

Journée d'excursion au parc national de Plitvice dans les montagnes croates pour découvrir la splendeur des lacs et cascades lors d'une randonnée fraîche mais ensoleillée.
De retour à Zagreb, dîner dans un restaurant local vegan puis soirée jeux de société avec nos partenaires lettons.

Petit déjeuner copieux et confortable au Swanky Mint Hostel pour attaquer la journée.
Activités brise-glace en anglais pour faire connaissance avec nos partenaires lettons sur la terrasse avant de faire un tour de tram tous ensemble vers Linigra School où les élèves ont courageusement et brillamment présenté leurs préparations et assisté à celles de nos partenaires croates et lettons.
Nous avons partagé un déjeuner traditionnel au restaurant Kaptolska Klet de Zagreb avant d'affronter la pluie qui ne nous a pas empêchés d'arpenter les rues de Zagreb guidés par Tina qui nous a fait découvrir les secrets de sa ville.
Au dîner les bonnes volontés se sont combinées pour nous concocter un délicieux repas dans la bonne humeur.

Section Euro à Zagreb Jour 1

Le groupe de section Euro est bien arrivé à Zagreb.
Après le transfert vers l'aéroport de Roissy et un vol taquin, nous avons rejoint notre auberge de jeunesse en empruntant notre premier tram bleu.
Après installation, nous avons profité d'une douceur agréable pour dîner en centre ville et déguster une crème glacée avant une rencontre tardive avec nos homologues lettons arrivés en bus depuis leurs contrées baltes.

This year, on Thursday November 16, around 300 students from the André Maurois high school went to the Grand Mercure cinema in Elbeuf to attend a screening of 11 films presented at the This is England festival.

This is England festival was created 12 years ago, in 2011, by the Rouen Norwich Club twinning committee. It offers today more than 20 000 spectators on average of 50 short films, particularly for a student audience.

On that occasion, the students of the 1ère STMG Euro class created a multiple-choice questionnaire on the feelings of the students who participated in the cinema outing on November 16.

Out of 68 answers, 38,2% of people would have liked a longer version of the film “Linda”. “Linda” is a 7:50 min fiction film (fictionalized stories : that is to say totally invented or inspired by reality), directed by Joe Lycett. Linda is a woman who got a job in a post office, but with each new customer and new packages brought, she tells an ever-crazier anecdote. However, her colleague and the customers don't believe her.
This film received the 2023 Audience Award !

The film “Manmade” got the high school students Award. For 38 people, the most moving moment of Manmade was the conversation between the two brothers. And for 31 persons, it was the speech around the coffin.
This film was therefore very appreciated.

Among these 11 films presented at the This is England festival, a documentary entitled “Fitting” was quite unusual.
“Fitting” is a 10:50 min documentary directed by Caitlin McMullan, which tells the process of fabrication of a prosthetic leg for the amputee : the director, and shows the bond between the prosthetic and the amputee.
31 people felt impressed while watching this movie, while 22 felt bored. For the majority (48 people), the most challenging thing to them to be an amputee is to deal with the judgements of others.

One of the most hated film was “Brixton Bustle”, 58% didn't like this film.

Out of all the people who participated in the festival, everyone would like to return, so we can say that this year's festival was a success !

Eva Vardon 1ère STMG 2

This is England was created in 2012 by Rouen Norwich Club twinning committee. First of all, this festival was created to build a cultural bridge between two shores of Normandy.
The aim of the programme is to show 20,000 spectators a 90 minute programme of different short films. In all, there are 6 programmes, giving a total of 50 shorts films.
Here are a few examples :
A mind full :
This short film talks about mindfulness. It's a man who teaches it in real life but also live on the internet, Zanda the teacher doesn't really like the idea of a live show.
Another man who practices mindfulness too doesn't believe a person can achieve enlightenment, His name is Steven.
During the session Zanda imagines Steven distracts everyone and so he asks him to go out but Steven provokes him by saying “make me [leave] ”.Then it leads to a fight but Zanda comes back to reality and realizes no one of it happened. And at the end Steve thanks Zanda for this session.
Brixton Bustle :
In this short film we can see animation who represents Brixton, a colorful Caribbean district of London. There are a girl dancing with a whistle in the background, a person running in the forest, a fruit and vegetable market in the street and we can see a building.

Headache :
It's a fiction about Harvey, a young man who is sick and would like to buy some medicine and gum to get better. But the pharmacist tells him that you have to be 16 to buy ibuprofen, so she asks him for ID, which he reluctantly agrees to do. However, she thinks Harvey is showing a false passport and is under 16.
What should be a simple transaction at a pharmacy becomes a bureaucratic nightmare. She then explained to him that if he was 15 he could benefit from the NHS (National Health Service) policy for minors and have some free medicine. Finally, he has to lie about his age saying he is 15 to obtain the drug he desperately needs.

The Bonny Moorhen :
The Bonny Moorhen is an animation, more precisely a music video. The song in the background is a traditional folk song and the moorhen represents the historical figure of Charles Edward, Bonnie Prince Charlie. Many spectators liked the music. Unfortunately, nobody really enjoyed the type of animation.
Julie and Thomas 1stmg Euro

The This is England British short film festival was initiated 12 years ago by the Rouen Norwich Club twinning committee. At the time, a group of enthusiasts wanted to create a cultural bridge between the two banks of the Channel through cinema.

This is England in figures, it is 6 programs of 90', or 50 short films on average, in cinemas on both banks.
We have conducted a survey focusing on two significant short films the students from Lycée Maurois enjoyed.

MANMADE

Their father's funeral pits two brothers against each other. Indeed, the latter had very strong ideas about the way a man should behave.
According to our survey, the most moving moment in Manmade is the conversation between the two brothers certainly because the public's favorite character is Eddie. The best scene in Manmade is the coach's speech at the beginning of the film which immediately caught the audience's attention, that is probably why the public thinks that this film deserves to have the award for "best short film of the high school selection"

TORNADO INSIDE

Anna's house is perfect, but living on the edge of a tornado can be dangerous. When, her key ring gets blown away by the swirling wind she is forced to leave her home. That's how she finds herself plunged into the chaos she has always refused to face.
The scene that the public liked the most in the film is the ending, which means the public finds that it is a good thing that the main character lost her keys at the beginning of the film. Everybody could relate to Anna in a way as going out in the outside world is always a little scarier that staying in the comfort of your home, but so much fun too.

Noa Ladiray and Noah Langlois 1STMG2

This is England is festival of British short films. There are 6 programs of 90 minutes, that represents 50 short films This is England puts these short films in competition and some of these films are chosen to be part of a specific selection for middle-schools and high-schools.

Among the films selected for the high-school projection, we have decided to focus on two different types of films : a fiction and an animation.

Irish, Blacks and Dogs :
The film aims to denounce racism in England. Indeed, there is a conflict between a racist Irish immigrant called Ted with a resolute black paramedic, Chris. Chris wants to do his duty as a nurse but Ted objects to being taken care of by Chris because of his skin-color.

Wish I Were There :
Wish I were there plunged the audience into some childhood nostalgia thanks to the beach, the sea shore, the seagulls, children's laughters, which helped us understand the meaning of the poem being recited all along. It retraces all the good memories of summertime at the beach.

Those are not the films which got awarded the highschoolers' prizes. Yet, to us they are the most moving. Everybody can relate to the nostalgia of childhood memories with the poem Wish I Were There, which is very touching. As for Irish, Blacks and Dogs, we think it is still important to expose ordinary racism and the ending is quite hopeful.

Remise des prix de la dictée en anglais de la Commission Européenne

Monsieur Galimand et Madame Lefebvre ont récompensé les 9 champions de la dictée en anglais de la Commission Européenne ce vendredi 13 octobre à 15h45 en salle de musique pour clôturer les Erasmus Days.
Chaque lauréat s'est vu offrir 2 places pour le cinéma Grand Mercure par le FSE du lycée Maurois. Le meilleur candidat, Loqmane Bendjebara, a gagné une carte de l'Europe à gratter au fur et à mesure de ses futurs voyages.
La cérémonie était animée par le groupe de 1ère Euro DNL Musique qui avait composé un Jingle Erasmus pour l'occasion.

Bienvenue aux premiers Erasmus Days du lycée !

Du 9 au 14 octobre, le lycée Maurois célèbre sa toute nouvelle accréditation Erasmus+ qui nous permet d'établir des partenariats avec des lycées européens afin de découvrir la diversité de Union Européenne et de partager nos richesses en retour en accueillant des lycéens étrangers.
Quelques temps forts :

lundi 9 octobre de 14h à 16h : Information à destination des Terminales : Partir à l'étranger après le bac
Le CRIJ animera l'atelier "Partir en Europe et ailleurs : toutes les idées" afin de dresser un panorama des opportunités de départ à l'étranger.
La MJC proposera ensuite un temps d'échange avec ses volontaires européens et conclura en présentant succinctement les projets d'échange de jeunes (Erasmus+) proposés pendant l'été.

vendredi 13 octobre 15h45 : Remise des prix de la dictée de la Commission Européenne aux meilleurs candidats de section Euro par M.Galimand encadré par les créations originales de Jingles Erasmus des 1ère Euro DNL Musique.
